Her Hats #SheInspiresUs - Moana North

We are kicking off 2018 with some MAJOR inspiration! Meet Moana North, the creative genius behind Hunted Fox. Moana worked in the wine and spirits industry for 15 years, where she felt like all she was doing was collecting a paycheck. After reading the book The Artisan Soul, she decided she was not living up to her full potential. Sewing was a childhood passion, so she decided to start her “purpose project”. Hunted Fox became her creative outlet that impacts positivity. It was important for her to give back while creating her passion pieces. She and her husband have chosen to give 10% of all proceeds to AdoptTogether. A crowdfunding platform designed to bridge the gap between families who want to adopt and the children who need loving homes.

Moana pours passion and thought on every piece she creates. “These aren’t anatomic objects- they’re witnesses to your life. Maybe on a family’s toughest nights, this is the blanket they pull over their body, that makes them comfortable.”

 More about Moana-

If you could have lunch with any woman, who would it be and why?

Lucille Ball.  She had incredible command of her own presence, timing and comedic authority.  Mostly, she operated in a 360 degree formula that allowed her to pioneer a space that women had not been previously. As the first woman to run a TV studio she created and produced her own shows, where she was of course the star. She was the OG Kris Jenner, super powerhouse, watch me roar babe, and I'd love to drink lunch with her any day of the week.  Just to capture the droplets of wisdom she couldn't contain...

 What is your passion?

Creating and making things happen.  Drawing out the creative genius in others who thought they weren't able. There's something amazing about turning a light on to a new way of viewing something and putting wings in another person’s hands.  From a business strategy to a new home with 3 simple changes and a few bucks: nothing beats moving someone out of their comfort zone and into a newfound place of freedom and expansion.

 Who inspires you?

The doers of the world. If something excites, angers or impassions you - it's your job to give 100% of your effort to affect that thing for its greatest good and those around you. Best said in the words of Erwin Mc Manus “Those who use every last arrow in their quill leaving nothing for tomorrow that cannot be done today and nothing they could have accomplished in this life for the next one.” Those who view the world and their environment as their personal responsibility to better.

Ain't nobody got time for a lotta words that don't show up to change anything!

What does a typical Sunday look like for you?

Hit our church Mosaic for a little soul food.   Stroll through the farmers market on Larchmont Blvd for weekly veggies and fresh bread. Grab a bite and the worlds best coffee at Go Get Em Tiger then head to my studio DTLA to create.  I love the days when no one is around and I can play with things I am trying to teach myself or get funky thinking outside of my norm. My favorite part of the day is heading home for a dinner with family, friends and neighbors. Sunday dinner is a tradition in my house and it's the one thing I look forward to no matter what's going on in life. Filling it with good people, great food and delicious wine. It's where all of our lives unfold and will forever be the best part of any Sunday.

Who are your favorite female entrepreneurs at the moment?

So many!  We live in an era of fierce women! Shonda Rimes, Dianne Von Furstenberg, Joanne Malone, Justina Blakeney....

However, I've been so inspired by this tribe of women who are mammas, wives, single gals chasing their dreams pouring their hearts out through what they create.  I've never felt so connected as I have when I am in the vibe with women like Lethrice and all of my other gal pals who are creating beautiful things and making their vision real.

Her Hats #SheInspiresUs - Heidi Liebman

Hey #AnhcoyTribe, it’s Jenni again!

We collaborated with a group of incredible women who our founder, Lethrice Tully, has hand picked to represent our #SheInspiresUs campaign. We will feature and celebrate impressive women from different backgrounds and careers to inspire our Anhcoy tribe. These hardworking women wear several hats, from their philanthropic efforts, to their self-made careers.

Meet Heidi Liebman- founder of Sweetzer Style, stylist, and mommy of two! We spent the morning with Heidi at one of her favorite spots in LA.

Her company, Sweetzer Style, was founded on the idea of accessible fashion. It all started with her desire to help people with styling every time they asked her what she was wearing.

“I started the company because I knew there was so much affordable stuff out there that people just need help putting together. In this day in age, people want to wear an outfit once, so they don't need to spend a lot.” She encourages her clients to mix high and low end pieces. Heidi gets to empower so many women and make them feel incredible through her work.

More about Heidi....

What are you passionate about?

I am passionate about my job. I get excited about working with my clients and making people feel good about themselves!

Who inspires you?

Mothers inspire me, including my own mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law.

Who is your favorite female entrepreneur?

Marlien Rentmeester of Le Catch. Marlien is a mother who quit her day job as a magazine editor to follow her passions. Marlien also recently launched her own, limited edition clothing label called MAR. I don’t personally know her, but someone set us up on a phone call 15 years ago, and she gave me some advice about starting out in the fashion industry. All I can remember from the phone call was how nice she was, and I will never forget that!

If you could have lunch with any woman, who would it be?

Honestly, it would be with my best girlfriends! I’ve been so strapped for time recently, and I don’t get to see them nearly enough. It would be a long, leisurely lunch someplace with nothing else to do and nowhere else to go.

What does a typical Sunday look like for you?

I get up at early with my two little girls and my husband to cuddle in bed and drink some coffee. We grab brunch at about 11, then head home to nap! After that- its pool time. We either barbecue (my husband makes the best hamburgers!) or walk to dinner in our neighborhood.

What are your favorite pieces from our current collection on the site?

My favorites are Alex, Alexis, and the Tish Tote.

Make sure to keep checking in for new posts on all the amazing, inspirational women we will be featuring.

Looking at S/S 2018

Hey #anhcoytribe! I’m Jenni, the newest comm intern. We have been working on our next collection here at Anhcoy, and are so excited to show you the looks that have been inspiring us for the upcoming season.

Blush has been a huge inspiration for our new collection. You saw hints of it with our Tish Tote and our Alex hat, but we are going all out with the blush and tan hues this season.

Valentino

These Valentino looks include amazing pops of color that we have been obsessing over. Bold is the new black, which is why we are so excited to introduce our newest pieces. We also saw gorgeous, unexpected silhouettes walk the runway, and this is something you can expect to see from us this spring. Of course, we all love our signature wide-brimmed hats, but get ready to see short brimmed fedoras and sun hats in our new collection.

Alexander Wang / Tibi / Chanel

There were so many amazing, monochromatic looks all over the runway. We were obviously inspired! Monochromatic pieces with straw and leather combinations can be expected from our new pieces, and trust me- these are a necessity.

Chloé / Fendi

We are going big with our textures and shine this upcoming season. You are going to be seeing pops of gorgeous greens paired with vibrant metallics. We can definitely see all of these girls rocking our new collection with looks like these in Spring!

Hats and Rosé

Every year we summer with hats and rosé.  It's a season long celebration from our ladies brunch to our collection launch party.  So, it was only fitting that we "hats and rosé" for our pop-up shop in Laguna Beach.  The vibe was nothing short of magic as our guests enjoyed our favorite rosé and tried on our latest brims for the first time.

Huge shout out to Sourced Collective for the incredible space and to our #anhcoytribe for all the love!
